La CCCM respalda la condena de Colombia a la violencia en Siria

DIRIGIDO A LA CANCILLERÍA DE LA REPÚBLICA DE COLOMBIA

Bogotá, septiembre 4 de 2013. La Campaña Colombiana contra Minas (CCCM), respalda el Comunicado de Prensa emitido por el Ministerio de Relaciones Internaciones en su página web, el pasado 1 de septiembre de 2013, en el que “manifiesta su más vehemente rechazo al uso de armas químicas, independientemente de dónde provenga”.

De igual manera, insta al gobierno nacional y a la Cancillería, a que sujetos a la ley, se pronuncien frente al uso de material bélico prohibido por el Derecho Internacional Humanitario (DIH), como las Bombas Clúster o munición en racimo, por parte del gobierno de los Estados Unidos o de cualquiera de sus aliados, en una eventual intervención militar en Siria. La Campaña, llama al gobierno Colombiano a que cumpla la Convención sobre Municiones en Racimo, tratado que prohíbe el uso, la producción, el almacenamiento y la transferencia de Bombas Clúster o bombas en racimo, la cual fue firmada por el Estado colombiano, junto con otros 107 países, el 3 de diciembre de 2008. Desde la firma de la Convención, Colombia está comprometida, no solo con destruir este tipo de artefactos de guerra que tienen un alto impacto humanitario, sino también de denunciar su eventual uso.

Bogotá D.C., September 4, 2013. The Colombian Campaign to Ban Landmines (CCCM) supports the Press Release released by the Ministry Of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia on the 1^st of September, on it is website, where the Ministry “expresses it is vehement refusal the use of chemical weapons, regardless where they come from”.

Similarly, CCCM urge the national government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by law, to declare the use of banned military material as defined by the International Humanitarian Law (IHL), such as Cluster Bombs, by the United States government or any other of the United States allies, in any military intervention in Syria. The Campaign calls the Colombian government to carry out the Convention on Cluster Munitions, banning the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of Cluster Bombs. That treaty was signed by the Colombian State with 107 other countries, on 3^rd of December in 2008.

Since the Convention on Cluster Munitions was signed, Colombia is commitment and obliged, not only to destroy these kinds of war devices that have high humanitarian impacts, but also to comprehensively condemn the eventual use of the Cluster Bombs.
